Loop connectors are very handy when connecting leaders, sink tips or backing to your fly line via a loop to loop connection. They are made of very fine monofilament that is woven into a thin tube with a loop at one end.
Each loop connectors comes with a piece of shrink tubing. The shrink tubing is slid over the frayed end of the loop connector, then heated causing it to shrink and securely hold the frayed end of the loop connector in place. Alternatively, a drop of superglue at both ends of the shrink tubing where it covers the frayed end of the loop and the fly line.
Loop connectors make it much easier and more convenient when you need to quickly change leaders or fly lines.
The orange coloured braided loop connectors are more visible and can also be used as strike indicators.
As a guide, the 30lb loop connectors would suit line weights 2-7wt and the 50lb loop connectors would suit line weights 8-12 wt and beyond.
